Ask Dr. Carter

When will construction of the new Science Center be completed? What will the building be named?

Based on our current construction progress, the new Science Center will be completed in December 2014. The projected completion date is based on not encountering extended delays caused by site issues or by building inspection requests or requirements.

As you know, The Duke Endowment pledged $25 million toward construction of the center. An additional $10-15 million is needed for technology, equipment, operating and endowment support. A Science Center Campaign Cabinet, represented by distinguished alumni and friends from across the country, is leading the fundraising campaign in conjunction with our Division of Institutional Advancement. The fundraising campaign includes several opportunities for naming the overall facility, laboratories, classrooms and even auditorium seating.
