Ask Dr. Carter

What is the expected enrollment of new students and expected total enrollment for Fall 2013?

I am pleased to say that we are on track to maintain our growth during the 2013-14 academic year. The expected enrollment for the entering class (new freshman, transfers, re-admits) is 600 students with total enrollment expected to be at 1600 students.

The Office of Admissions has been successful in implementing its strategies to recruit the next class of students who will matriculate in fall 2013. Our admissions counselors intensified their focus on attracting highly motivated and highly talented students as well as a more diverse and international student body. STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects, business administration and social work are the more popular majors among our students. We are seeing evidence that our hard work is paying off and that the JCSU story is resonating with students who are in the process of selecting a college. Prospective students and their families tell us that they are excited by the University’s transformation. This is especially true as we continue to promote market-driven majors, applied research opportunities, study abroad, Mosaic Village, Duke Hall, Sustainability Village and plans for the new state-of-the-art Science Center.
